Composite Fillings
White Composite Mercury Free Fillings
Tooth-colored fillings address cavities with a composite material that looks like your natural teeth, unlike the metallic amalgam fillings that were once the standard in dentistry.
The most common dental procedure today is removing old harmful mercury containing silver fillings and replacing them with composite white fillings. A composite filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass combination used to restored decayed, cracked, or broken teeth. After tooth preparation, Dr. Ludwig will place the composite white filling in multiple layers over your tooth. This ensures the least amount of stress to a tooth which results in no post operative sensitivity. An ultra violet light is used to harden each layer. When the process is finished, Dr. Ludwig will shape and polish your tooth to a very nice shine and double check your bite to make sure the filling fits right.
Composites are also used for cosmetic procedures on teeth to change the color, shape and texture. These procedures are also commonly referred to as bonding. Composite bonding treatment can repair chipped or cracked teeth, mask discoloration, and reduce the appearance of gaps and spaces between teeth.
