Routine Care
Oral Exams and X-Rays
The foundation of routine care lies in regular cleanings and x-rays, allowing us to catch issues at early stages. During your exam we'll evaluate your mouth, looking for decay or other issues that we may cause discomfort in the future. Early detection is the key to avoiding discomfort and affords us the ability to take care of an issue before it becomes even more significant. Dr. Ludwing suggest all his patients follow the ADA recommended interval for checkup visits: once every six months.
Teeth Cleanings
Clean teeth are imperative to maintaining an optimal level of health for your teeth and gums. Routine cleanings, in conjunction with proper oral hygiene routines at home, can help diminish the likelihood of cavities, tooth decay, plaque buildup, gingivitis, and several other serious dental issues from forming over time. In order to help keep your teeth and gums both healthy and clean, we recommend coming in for a professional dental cleaning twice a year. Check out our video library for info on diet and oral health.
Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth do not usually appear until you are in your late teens or twenties. Once the wisdom teeth start coming in, they can odten cause discomfort and irritation. Wisdom teeth that ultimately do not penetrate through the gums can cause an abscess or cyst to develop. Untreated cases can do serious damage to surrounding teeth, gums, and underlying bone. Often called third molars, wisdom teeth form at the back of your mouth and often lack the space to come through the gums properly. This can lead to teeth impaction, which may cause damage to surrounding teeth.
